ABOUT US
Our church
St Peter-in-Ely is a small Church of England church on Broad Street in Ely, a short walk from Ely railway station and the town centre. It was opened in 1890 to serve Ely’s riverside district.
We are a traditional Anglican church and our sung services usually include a number of well-loved hymns sung by the congregation, accompanied by the organ. Once a month we are joined by our choir, St Peter’s Singers.
St Peter’s is a friendly community, with a congregation from around Ely, neighbouring villages and beyond. Everyone is most welcome at our services, whatever your beliefs, and whether you want to join in or simply have some time for quiet reflection.
The church is unusual for being a Proprietary Chapel, one of the few remaining in the Church of England today.

St Peter's is owned and administered by the Trustees of St Peter's Church, a charity registered with the Charity Commissioners for England and Wales (Charity Number 1059178) and is still governed for the most part by the original Trust Deed set up in the 1880s.
The Chapel Wardens and the Church Congregational Committee, an elected sub-committee of the Trustees, have a shared responsibility with the Trustees for the running of the church and its mission. They also assist with the pastoral and social life of the church.
