About Us

St Peter-in-Ely is a Proprietary Chapel within the Church of England and Diocese of Ely. The congregation is drawn not only from the riverside area of Ely in which it stands but also from other parts of the city and the neighbouring villages with many attracted here by the more traditional worship pattern offered. Trustees

St Peter's is owned and administered by the Trustees of St Peter's Church, a charity registered with the Charity Commissioners for England and Wales (Charity Number 1059178) and is still governed for the most part by the original Trust Deed set up in the 1880s
. Chapel Wardens and the Church Congregational Committee, an elected sub-committee of the Trustees, have a shared responsibility with the Trustees for the running of the church and its mission. They also assist with the pastoral and social life of the church.
