Hello from Fr Paul and Judith
These are just a few words from us both to say how absolutely delighted we are to have landed in Ely and how much we are looking forward to joining St Peter’s on 5th June and all that will follow. A new priest (for you) and a new church and role (for us) is a significant step for all of us as a new future opens up. It is a time for joyful thanksgiving and celebration for all that has brought us to this point and hopeful prayers of anticipation for our Christ-centred and Spirit-led immersion in the mystery of God’s being and love in the years to come.
This is not the place for any exercise in autobiography but suffice to say that we both come from musical backgrounds – one of us more academic (Paul), the other more practical (Judy), that we are likely to be seen out and about with our two dogs, Ellie the lurcher and Jasper the springer spaniel and that we are both very keen on good food and wine.
We have now moved into the Warden’s House, 15 Barton Road and are surrounded by boxes which we are gradually unpacking! We’ve been in the diocese for eleven years so we know that Ely is a delightful place and we can’t believe our luck that we are actually living here. We look forward to meeting as many of you as possible on 5th June, on the Feast of Pentecost which falls on the following Sunday (9th June) and all of you over the next weeks and months.
You are very much in our prayers and we hope that you will pray for us as we settle in amongst you.
With our love and prayers,
Paul and Judith
